Civil protection
Warn, protect and inform
Power outages, floods, heavy rainfall - the topic of disaster prevention has been gaining in importance in the Neuenhaus joint municipality for years. As the disaster control authority, the district of Grafschaft Bentheim has the task of warning, protecting and informing its residents in the event of a disaster. It is also responsible for protecting vital infrastructure from hazards and damage that can be caused by major emergencies or disasters. This includes, for example
- Natural disasters: Floods, storms, drought, heat
- technical disasters: Accidents involving hazardous substances, fires, prolonged power outages
- Epidemic situations: pandemics, epidemics
It is important to differentiate between hazard prevention and emergencies. The Neuenhaus joint municipality is responsible for hazard defence (e.g. in the event of severe weather events, explosive ordnance and ammunition finds). If a disaster is declared by the district administrator, the district administration takes over the operational management. Fortunately, the county has not yet had to declare a disaster.
