To kick things off, the first guided tour, entitled “Neuenhaus and its staircases”, took place in May. This was followed by the themed tour “Neuenhaus and its history”.
Those interested can now look forward to unique insights on 25 July 2026 with the guided tour ‘Jewish Life in Neuenhaus’. This tour sheds light on the history, which has developed over the centuries, and the everyday lives of Jewish families in the town. It highlights just how closely Jewish and Christian communities in Neuenhaus were intertwined over a long period – they spoke Low German, celebrated together and lived as good neighbours.
On 26 September 2026, the programme features an entertaining guided tour entitled ‘Lug und Trug in Neuenhaus’, during which participants will discover surprising stories and humorous anecdotes from the town’s history. Two experienced city guides will lead the tour, offering fascinating insights – not everything is quite as it seems at first glance.
The meeting point for all city walks is the town fountain in front of the Evangelical Reformed Church in Neuenhaus. The tours last around two hours each and cost 5 euros per person. Children under 16 can take part free of charge.
You must register via the OpenRathaus Service Portal at www.neuenhaus.de.
With the exception of the themed tour ‘Jewish Life in Neuenhaus’, all tours can also be offered in Low German on request.
In addition, the city offers bespoke guided tours for groups, which can be arranged at a time that suits you. These can be tailored to specific themes and cost 25 euros per hour.
Further information on the individual guided tours is available at: www.neuenhaus.de and www.neuenhaus-tourismus.de
