This was preceded by an initiative by citizens from Veldhausen with the aim of improving road safety. In this area, children in particular need a safe crossing to get to the day care centres and primary school. The crossing is equipped with a 30 km/h speed limit on both sides.
The installation of the pedestrian crossing was preceded by a lengthy planning process between the district of Grafschaft Bentheim and the town of Neuenhaus. Representatives of the district, as the body responsible for road construction, and the town of Neuenhaus are delighted that this measure has now been implemented. Town manager Oldekamp expressly thanked the district for its exemplary and trusting cooperation. The representatives of the initiative also welcomed the fact that the commitment is now bearing fruit and that a contribution has been made to increasing road safety, especially for children.
