The sandstone sphere was discovered in the early 1970s by Leonhard Harger in a garden on Morsstraße and has been kept for over 50 years. It most likely comes from one of the broken-off columns of the former pond gate, the ‘Diekpoarte’, the eastern city gate of the medieval town of Neuenhaus.
Another information board commemorates the old bathing establishment on the River Dinkel. For many residents of Neuenhaus, this evokes very personal memories: learning to swim, summer afternoons by the water and diving from the diving platform.
In this way, history comes to life, inviting us to reminisce, strike up conversations and learn new things about our town’s past.

It can be found on the footpath between Burgstraße and Dinkelwehr.
