The Senior Citizens' Advisory Council of the Neuenhaus joint municipality represents the interests of older people living in the joint municipality. It works independently, is non-denominational and politically neutral. One of the tasks of the Seniors' Advisory Council is to draw the attention of the council, the administration and the public to the interests and concerns of older people and to work towards their consideration. By continuing to represent the interests of senior citizens, the Neuenhaus joint municipality would like to continue to offer them a strong platform. All welfare organisations, churches, associations and facilities in the Neuenhaus joint municipality were able to send delegates to the meeting. Eleven candidates stood for election for a total of nine places on the Seniors' Advisory Council. The following people were elected to the Seniors' Advisory Council for the next 5 years: Hindrik Bosch, Ursula Heuer, Gabriele Jahnke, Hans-Jürgen Klünder, Wolfgang Ledebur, Herbert Lüken, Katrin Oldekamp, Annette Schneider and Evert Vogel. Ursula Heuer and Evert Vogel were already members of the Seniors' Advisory Council in the previous term of office.
At the constituent meeting, Wolfgang Ledebur was elected 1st Chairperson, Gabriele Jahnke 2nd Chairperson and Hans-Jürgen Klünder Secretary.
Six members of the previous Seniors' Advisory Board were dismissed. The following members were not available for re-election: Hartmut Crede (10 years), Friedrich Reurik (10 years, including 10 years as Chairman), Erwin Schläfke (10 years), Aleida Schrader (5 years, including 5 years as 2nd Chairwoman), Helmut Wolts (10 years) and Franz Zwafelink (10 years, including 10 years as Secretary). During the farewell ceremony, Günter Oldekamp looked back on the successful work of the Seniors' Advisory Council and thanked the previous members for their commitment and the good and pleasant cooperation.
