Cycle path renovations in Neuenhaus

The cycle path on the L44 (Veldhausener Straße) between Neuenhaus (at Buchenstraße) and the Vechtebrücke bridge is to be renewed and widened over a length of around 800 metres in order to create a better connection between Neuenhaus and the district of Veldhausen. From the point of view of the state authority in the Lingen division, the widening of the cycle path on the L44 is "a sensible measure", said division manager Dr Hannah Timmer.

The cycle path project in Neuenhaus was initiated by the town council. "Politicians are prioritising the construction of cycle paths. That's why the widening is very important to us. We want to start as soon as possible," emphasised joint municipal mayor Günter Oldekamp. An exact construction start date has not yet been set. The city of Neuenhaus is in charge of this project. The total costs for the L44 cycle path widening amount to around 684,000 euros, of which 75 per cent of the construction and land acquisition costs are eligible for funding ("Stadt und Land" funding pot). The remaining costs are borne proportionately by the municipality and the state.

In the course of the L44, the cycle path on both sides of the L45 from the Vechte bridge to the level of the "Laardiek" road will also be renewed.
