The Senior Citizens' Advisory Council of the Neuenhaus joint municipality represents the interests of older people living in the joint municipality. It works independently, is non-denominational and politically neutral. One of the tasks of the Seniors' Advisory Council is to draw the attention of the council, the administration and the public to the interests and concerns of older people and to work towards their consideration. By continuing to represent the interests of older people, the Neuenhaus joint municipality would like to continue to offer them a strong platform.
The members of the Seniors' Advisory Council are to be elected at an assembly of delegates. All welfare organisations, churches, associations and institutions are invited to this meeting.
The delegates' meeting for the new election of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council for the Neuenhaus joint municipality will take place on Tuesday, 10 June 2025 at 18:00 in the canteen of the Wilhelm-Staehle-Schule, Am Mühlengraben 1, 49828 Neuenhaus .
All charitable organisations, churches, associations and institutions can send up to three delegates to the election of the Seniors' Advisory Council and, if applicable, their candidate for a seat on the Seniors' Advisory Council. The delegates elect the members of the Seniors' Advisory Council from the candidates at the delegates' meeting. The Senior Citizens' Advisory Council should consist of a total of nine members. The Neuenhaus joint municipality would like to see a balanced gender ratio in the composition. The candidature of women is expressly welcomed. The clubs, associations and institutions have the opportunity to nominate a person on their behalf for a seat on the Seniors' Advisory Council.
The candidate must fulfil the following requirements:
- he/she must be at least 60 years old on election day,
- he/she must have been registered with his/her 1st place of residence in the Neuenhaus joint municipality for at least six months on election day,
- he/she may not be a member of the council of the joint municipality or the town of Neuenhaus or an employee of the joint municipality or the town of Neuenhaus. He/she may also not belong to any committee of the joint municipality or the town of Neuenhaus - not even as an advisory member
Membership of an association, organisation or institution is not required for eligibility.
The delegates must fulfil the same requirements as the candidates; in addition, they must be members of the association, organisation or institution. Candidates do not have to be members of the charity, church, association or organisation.
If a candidate is delegated, this person may not act as a delegate.
The clubs, associations and institutions are requested to register their delegates and, if applicable, their candidates with Mr Reefmann in room 4 of the town hall by 26 May 2025.
Mr Reefmann (Tel.: 05941 911-104, e-mail: reefmann@neuenhaus.de) is available to answer any questions.
