Such a telephone box in good condition and not so expensive was not easy to find. For a long time, Georg Hagmann had his eye on one that stood on the grounds of a farm near Lage. However, the owners did not want to sell it.
In spring 2025, the Hofste family decided to make the telephone box available to the friends of local history on permanent loan.
The company Dinkelholz made a suitable shelf as an educational project and Karl Fryling provided the lighting, which switches itself on by a sensor at dusk.
Recently, all those involved met with representatives of the town of Neuenhaus, which owns the property at Lager Straße 19 and also provides the Heimatfreunde with the club rooms, to inspect the finished "book cell".
It has been very well received. Books of almost all kinds are put in and taken out. The friends of local history are responsible for monitoring this.
The board of the friends of local history thanked the supporters and emphasised that this bookcase in Neuenhaus, Lager Straße 19, can be used by anyone who wants to return books or choose new reading material.
In this way, books that have been read can be reused and resources can be conserved.
