Ludwig Hagedoorn, mayor of the municipality of Lage, was delighted that after three years of planning, a new village centre has been successfully created. The aim is to increase the quality of stay and thus also contribute to the preservation of the Backbar Arends. In future, cycle tourists will be able to take a break and enjoy a refreshment at this location.
At the same time, road safety has been improved in this busy area as the roads have been re-routed. Parking spaces have also been created in front of the bakery bar.
Mayor Günter Oldekamp congratulated the municipality on the successful project and thanked the representatives of the municipal council as well as the Sommerfeld engineering office and the construction companies. The representatives of the municipality also thanked the First Municipal Councillor Michael Kramer for raising around 100,000 euros in funding to make the project possible. A significant proportion of the funding was approved from the European LEADER programme. Regional manager Inga Groenke from the local action group was delighted with the positive development in the village centre.
